Josh Norman was born and raised in Greenwood, South Carolina and began his playing days at Greenwood High School, where he was a multi-sport athlete. Josh was not offered a Division 1 scholarship despite his stellar high school performance and superb athleticism. He began taking classes at Horry Georgetown Tech in 2007. The proceeding year, in 2008, he was given the opportunity to walk-on at Coastal Carolina. Josh was later given a scholarship following a strong true freshman campaign with 7 starts out of 12 games and the rest was history. Over his Coastal Carolina tenure, Josh broke a number of records and received various All-American and conference awards. In 2012, Josh Norman became the 3rd Chanticleer to be drafted and was selected by the Panthers as the 143rd overall pick. He graduated Coastal Carolina University as a communications major with a dramatic art minor.
Numbers Don't Lie
Josh has shown tremendous improvement since his NFL debut and has recorded numbers well above the norm. He is arguably one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL and his numbers are a testament to this statement. During his four seasons with the Carolina Panthers, Josh Norman has logged 7 interceptions for 172 return yards and 2 touchdowns, 36 pass deflections, 4 forced fumbles, and 3 fumble recoveries. This ultimately led to his first Pro Bowl selection.
A l Letter to Carolina
No Love Lost
I want to thank the coaches, my teammates, and especially all the fans for their support and gratitude these past five years. As a Carolina kid, playing for the Panthers was a dream come true and I will be forever grateful for the memories I have made during my tenure with the organization. I look forward to continuing my community efforts in the city through my foundation, Starz24. You fans hold a special place in my heart and I will always be appreciative for the support you gave me during my time as a Panther.
The Best is Yet to Come
You can’t come up with a better script for my life up to this point. I have been truly blessed with amazing family, friends and NFL opportunities, both past and present. My time in Washington has been a great experience so far. I am excited to get to work with my teammates and continue to perfect my craft as a player and student of the game. We have a ton of tremendous weapons on both sides of the ball that make me excited to join the team heading into this year. Stay tuned Redskins Nation HTTR!
